Each tasting is guided by our resident cheesemonger, who will share insights, pairing ideas, and the stories behind the cheeses.

Inside the World of Competitive Cheese
What does it take to make an award-winning cheese — and who decides which cheese takes home the trophy?
Join us this month as we step inside the fascinating world of cheese competitions. We’ll taste our way through a selection of award-winning cheeses while discovering what judges look for, how cheeses are evaluated, and what separates personal preference from technical excellence.
Our resident cheesemonger, Sarah McNulty, brings a unique perspective to the evening as both a cheese judge and a two-time Canadian Cheesemonger Championship competitor. We’ll explore the world of professional cheesemonger competitions, where competitors are challenged on everything from sensory evaluation and cheese knowledge to cutting, pairing, presentation and creativity — and then we’ll turn the tables and put you in the judge’s seat.
For a taste of what cheesemonger competition is really like, she will also recreate elements from her own 2026 Cheesemonger Invitational competition in New York, including her competition Perfect Bite and cocktail pairing.
Expect remarkable cheeses, a little friendly competition, plenty of behind-the-scenes stories and the chance to discover whether you have what it takes to judge a champion.
